February 2, 2019 - Acrylic Exploration with Lance Green
Picture
Lance Green is a Colorist and an Expressionist, but more than that he is a Storyteller conjuring images that take the viewer beyond the mere skin and bone of the subject and into the soul that lies hidden beneath.

The greater part of his works are self portraits of sorts but all are universal in their application, expressing the human paradox of grace and despair. There is an ambiguous optimism implied in the work that speaks an invocation for subject and viewer in the artist’s secret language that brings one to rest deeply in an ultimate redemption of all things.

In this workshop, Lance shared his philosophy, knowledge and application of color and expressionism -- allowing each participant to embrace his process - resulting in an individual art piece from the heart.

Supply List:
  • 2-3 canvases 24 x 36 or 30 x 40.

March 8 & 9 - Don Andrews 2-Day Workshop
Picture
Don Andrews will be teaching a 2-day watercolor workshop 'The Figure' at the Arapahoe Community College in Littleton CO on March 8 & 9, 2019.

Addressing the figure as the subject for a painting with the same artistic freedom and looseness employed when attempting other subjects in nature is the central theme of Don’s figure class.

“Throughout the workshop I will be putting forth the concept that successful figure painting is more than a visual explanation of anatomical parts. We also benefit from exploring the figure through color, design, and paint quality directions as well.”

Don’s classes are geared to intermediate and advanced painters who are looking for a challenge. Daily demonstrations will excite and stimulate those artists who are eager to stretch beyond the usual answers and discover a new looseness and expressive paint quality in their work.
