"Pastels with Texture and Feeling"  with Diane Edwards
Saturday, October 11, 2025 -- 9am - 3pm
Loving texture in my pastels lately!  Color and texture give a whole new dimension to pastel painting.  It's so much fun to create something quite different than you are used to
and give an emotion to your work.

Supply list: Diane will bring samples of her paintings with textures and some photos to share.  You can work from your own photos.  She will bring UArt paper in 9 x 12 or 12 x 18 to purchase for the best results in this technique.  It will be fun!

  • Pastels—bring what you have. If you don’t have any, I would recommend a basic set of NuPastels…set of 24 or more. They could be supplemented with a few colors you like, a bright red a bright yellow and dark green for this workshop would be good. NuPastels don’t have very good sky blues so you could pick up some of those, especially, lighter blues.
  • 2 pieces 9 x 12 or a little larger Uart pastel paper and a smooth board to tape it on or 12 x 18
  • Texturing: I use Golden’s Pastel Ground and will bring other odds and ends for texturing. I like Uart or Gatorboard. I will bring a lot of experimental stuff to play with.
  • An inexpensive bristle brush about ½”
  • Masking tape, tan color, 1 ½ inch is best

I will supply vinyl gloves, a microfiber towel, and the turp
