" Where words fall away, art becomes the voice
|
I am an acrylic process painter, with several pieces in the works at any given time. I use a variety
of materials to create art that invites the viewer to pause, to feel, and to find meaning in the
details.
I begin a painting without a plan, without a goal. I have only the desire to use natural tools such
as sticks, rocks, makeup brushes, my fingers, along with anything else that calls me. I like to
watch the many layers of my art define itself, to go in a direction that I would not have been able
to plan on my own. Sometimes the process feels like an excavation. Other times it is solely
experimentation. While inspiration can be found everywhere, I am especially drawn to the quiet,
mystical presence of nature and more recently have noticed the human face presenting itself in
some of my work. I suppose it is because I see us in nature.
