Brian Hubbell  - "Let's Paint a Wonderful Landscape" via Zoom
Saturday, March 13, 2021 -- 9am - Noon
History and Bio:
Picture
Brian's drawing, cartooning and painting began in early childhood, and led to commissioned artwork in his college years.  He began showing pen and ink and charcoal sketches, acrylic and oil portraits and western paintings in galleries and businesses in central and southern Colorado.  As part of his artistic endeavors, he also became a political cartoonist, having a lot of fun lampooning then noted politicians: Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and others.  His cartoons were published in regional periodicals and newspapers.

Actively engaged in Colorado's outdoor life, Brian is an accomplished mountain climber - having scaled 44 of Colorado's fourteen thousand foot peaks, and a number of the Washington and Oregon's higher peaks (Rainier, Hood, Adams).

It's no surprise that his love for the outdoors transfers into his primary artistic subjects of western art and landscapes, and more recently, seascapes and island themes.  He and his family share a deep love and attachment to Maui and the Hawaiian islands. Scuba, snorkeling, and open ocean swimming are all activities of preference as Brian and his family have made a point of frequenting the islands annually, for many years.

Brian enjoys rendering and realism, without sacrificing color and appeal.  His primary medium of choice is oil on canvas.
