Picture

The demo will focus on traditional Chinese Brush Painting and Chinese calligraphy with the application of Chinese ink on rice paper using Chinese brushes.

Fogt will discuss traditional subject matter and tools used in CBP while  painting with them. She will also show examples of her current work incorporating Chinese calligraphy in abstract paintings. Attendees will also have an opportunity to try their hand at this ancient art.

Carm Fogt was initially drawn to Asian art and design during an eclectic art class and so pursued Chinese Brush Painting with various teachers near her
home in Southern California.

Though decidedly an abstract painter, she incorporates Chinese calligraphy as a way to bring the essence of Asian elegance to her work. For more than 25 years, Fogt studied with Chinese master artists and calligraphers in both China and the U.S. and was honored to study at the International College of the China Academy of Art, in Hangzhou, in 2006.

She works exclusively on rice paper using Chinese ink and watercolors, along with various other media. Her work can be found at the Cherry Creek Art Gallery in Denver, her studio and gallery in Parker, The Parker Schoolhouse Artist in Residence studio and on her website, www.carmfogt.net
