Carol Nelson - "Doin' the Messaround"

On September 18, 2021, we had our first back in-person Workshop! This workshop was taught by Carol Nelson and was titled “Doin’ the Messaround”.
We spent the morning messin-around making our own collage materials from air-dry clay, Tyvek, painted foil, molding paste and other materials that Carol brought out for us! We embossed, painted, ironed and did just about anything we could think of to move these ‘normal’ materials into potential collage components. The afternoon was spent taking the materials that we created - along with other materials that Carol had - and assembling them onto our mixed media boards. The whole assembly was then set in place with Golden GAC 800 media – a glossy product that both glued the components in place and created a shiny, fun surface. Most of us had many custom-created multi-media components left over and will attempt to create a few more masterpieces! What a fun time we had! Carol was a lot of fun and taught us lots of interesting techniques for making our own materials. This workshop was a fun change from our usual painting workshops! |
