Patricia will demonstrated how to make expressive, vibrant collages using watercolor paints, recycled materials, ephemera, and handmade textured papers.
This workshop focused on design, color choices, value and texture using the participants’ art materials of choice (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, color pencils, etc) and playful experimentation with abstraction and realism.
The workshop started with a demo and examples of 8 or more different types of collage. Participants had time to play with the materials, experimenting with making collage materials and making finished collages. * Patricia brought special glues, found objects, handmade papers, ephemera packets, supports, old brushes for glue, for everyone to use.

Supply List:
- Watercolor paper (140 pound or 300 pound cold press D’Arches)
- Watercolor paints (acrylics, gouache, tempera, ink, pencils, etc)
- Mixing palette or plate
- Water containers (2)
- Old brushes (watercolor, acrylic or oil, suitable for use with glue and odd additives)
- Old paintings to tear up to make new papers (old watercolor paintings are great)
- Any extra papers, tissue paper, rice paper, odds and ends, ephemera (old photos, postage stamps, maps, sheets of music, things you can tear up or reimagine, etc.)
- Elmers’ Glue
- Mat board scraps (8’x10’,9’x12’,11’x14’ or larger, if you wish) for supports for collages
- Gloss Acrylic Medium ( by Golden)
- Spray bottle
- 3M Scotch Brand Clear Packing Tape 2”
- Scissors
- Paper Towels and/or Kleenex
- Sketchbook, sketches, ideas to work from
