A day of demonstrations

We started the morning with a landscape.  We watched Bob splash a multitude of bright colors and wondered what the outcome would be, 20 minutes later we saw a beautiful, detailed landscape. When asked, Bob said most of his pictures are completed in 1-2 hours. Inspired, we worked on our own landscape in Bob’s style. We worked on learning to paint fluently, lots of pigment on a water-saturated brush. We focused on mixing paint color on the paper, painting top to bottom, light colors then layering to dark colors. Bob advised that if we were struggling in an area of the painting, to work on a different area of the painting rather than focusing on the problem.

In the afternoon we moved from landscapes to flowers using the same flowing technique.  Bob demonstrated painting flowers on Yupo paper, then demonstrated the same technique on regular watercolor paper.  We then got to try the same technique on Yupo paper,  very cool.

We switched back to another demonstration of Bob painting aspens. It was a fun and inspiring day.

Bob generously raffled three of his flower pictures.
