Patricia Barr Clarke demonstrated in watercolor with an emphasis on color theory, value plan, composition, and negative painting, with examples of her plein air paintings, individualized instruction, and critiques. The subject matter for this workshop was landscapes and buildings. Participants brought their own photos and/or sketches to work from and suggested supplies below.

  • Masking Tape
  • Kleenex or Rag
  • Water Container
  • Spray Bottle
  • Palette (white dinner plate, butcher tray, mixing area)
  • Sketchbook, 2H and 2B pencils, kneaded eraser
  • Brushes:
    o  1 inch flat synthetic or natural watercolor brush with chisel edge handle
    ​o  2 inch flat synthetic or natural watercolor brush with chisel edge handle
    o  #10 or #12 Round Synthetic or Natural Watercolor Brush
    o  #5 or #6 Rigger Watercolor Brush
  • D’Arches Cold Press or Rough Watercolor Paper 140 pound
  • Set of your choice of watercolor paints: (My favorite brands: Winsor Newton, Maimeri,)
